Reese Jacquez: Vampires, Werewolves and Angels - Oh My!: Darkness covered every inch of the ebony sky, wrapping it in a heavy blanket. A distant howl from a werewolf barked toward the moon; a clan ...

How It Got Started

I’m as simple and laidback as the next girl. I started writing at the age of twelve. I sat down during one summer bored to death and wrote a screenplay titled “Buddies On The Run.” That started my venture into writing an autobiography. But, I gave up writing an autobiography at the age of fourteen since my life was not very exciting then. As I grew into adolescents I wrote numerous poems, and by age sixteen I started writing lyrics to songs. Unfortunately none of them would have been number one hits.

A year later I had a horrible nightmare that caused me to wake up screaming. Sweat dribbled from my brow. After the pounding of my heart stopped several minutes later, I reached for my notebook I kept on my bed and jotted the dream down. I knew someday that dream would be the making of a good novel so I wrote quickly while the dream was still fresh in my mind. Currently, I am working on polishing that dream I originally titled Tara’s Nightmare into a YA Paranormal Suspense Thriller working title “Death Howls.”

As I matured and grew into adulthood, the path to writing blossomed. I wrote my first completed YA Novel called “Tara A Cry For Love,” and with major editing this novel remains on my bookshelf in hopes of someday returning to seeing it published.

I then polished my skills and tried my hands on stories for children. One I sent off to a publisher who was interested in publishing my story. I was stoked when the letter arrived and I received a phone call from an agent. A contract arrived shortly with a letter stating the details. On the back page, small print I was asked to send the sighed contract and another copy of my manuscript, and $10,000 dollars.  Needless to say, the story never was published.  The story is called “The Toaster That Talked.”

Years past, too many I might add before I picked up my quill again. I felt beat and that my life long desire of being an author had seen it’s darkest hour. And then it happened… Many years later, when I returned to college I had a vision that I could not get out of my head. That vision haunted me until I put my algebra book down, reached for a notebook, and wrote four pages of a story that called to me even during my sleep.

After pounding textbooks for several months; Jacquelyn Cassiel called to me. She would not leave me alone and begged me to write about her life and the many changes she underwent. Her journey drew me into an amazing world of her past, her present, and what awaits in her future.  Currently, my forthcoming novel  “Allured” is being edited and while I await the many changes the story about Jacquelyn is undergoing I’ve been dabbling in other genres.

One is a YA Romance, working title “Happily Living In New York.”  Another is a Science Fiction Suspense working title “Invaders.” And an adult Romance Paranormal story working title “Kiss Me Deadly.”  Several other works lay on the back burner waiting to be told about their world, their lives, and the mysterious that wait… waiting in the shadows of the darkside in the mind of Reese Jacquez to uncover them.
